Q is for... quitting

One of the hardest things in life is to keep going when all logical reason is telling you to stop. When your mind or body is screaming out telling you give up. However many great champions in sport and life are simply people who can resist that urge, who just don’t know when they’re beat. Here are some of my favourite quotes about quitting:

I hated every minute of training, but I said, "Don't quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion."
Muhammed Ali

A quitter never wins and a winner never quits.
Napoleon Hill

Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever.
Lance Armstrong

It's a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don't quit when you're tired - you quit when the gorilla is tired.
Robert Strauss

It's always too early to quit.
Norman Vincent Peale

Never quit. It is the easiest cop-out in the world. Set a goal and don't quit until you attain it. When you do attain it, set another goal, and don't quit until you reach it. Never quit.
Bear Bryant

Most people give up just when they're about to achieve success. They quit on the one yard line. They give up at the last minute of the game, one foot from a winning touchdown.
Ross Perot

  1. Good advice. There have been a couple of things in my life that I have quit. Once in a while, it's the right decision. I'm trying to visit all the A-Z Challenge Blogs this month. My alphabet is at myqualityday.blogspot.com

  2. Absolutely, knowing when to go on or when to give up is a good skill to have! However I think in sporting terms it's generally an advantage if you're stubborn and don't quit until it's clear it's the only option remaining.
